Combat
Throwing
Throwing covers the Throwing Dagger, the Throwing Axe and the Javelin: forged, one-handed weapons that are thrown rather than swung, so a shield goes with them and nothing is spent in the throwing. They are among the quickest weapons there are, and they carry Hinder: every third throw that lands has a chance to catch the monster badly enough that its attacks come far slower for a few seconds.
Weapons
Damage shown is the base before material tier, Tactics, Arms Lore and any magic property.
| Weapon | Damage | Speed | Hands |
|---|---|---|---|
| Throwing Dagger | 8–11 | 1.8s | One |
| Throwing Axe | 10–14 | 2s | One |
| Javelin | 11–15 | 2.3s | One |
How it climbs
- What trains it
- Every throw, whether or not it lands
- Below 50
- A gain is worth anything from 0.1 to 1.0, so the first half goes quickly
- Throws to Grandmaster
- About 63,000
- Where they go
- 16% to reach 70, 45% from 70 to 90, 39% for the last ten points
- Time
- About 30 hours of throwing with a Throwing Dagger, 39 with a Javelin, at 100 Dexterity. The waits between fights come on top
Hinder — A throw that catches the monster across the arm or the legs. It is not stunned — it goes on fighting — but for a few seconds everything it does comes far slower. Hinder is not rolled on every hit: two landed throws build it and the third is the one that has the chance, which is why the fastest weapons in the family are the ones that hinder most.
Hinder, in numbers
- Rolled on
- Every third throw that lands. A miss does not count and does not reset the count, and the count carries from one monster to the next
- Chance on that throw
- 12% at 0 skill, rising to 35% at 100, plus up to 5% more from Arms Lore
- The monster attacks
- 70% slower
- For
- 5s
- Its wind-up
- Kept, and stretched — the swing it was making lands late rather than being thrown away
- Re-proccing mid-hinder
- Tops the time back up to a full 5s rather than stacking a second slow
- Shown on the monster as
- Hindered
- Against another player
- The same: their swings come slower for the same time
